<aside> ☝ Givebutter’s Operating Principles
Leadership Principles are to be thought of as tangible guidelines by which Butter Slices approach daily tasks, interact with others, and make decisions.

Remote work dictates our daily life at Givebutter, and since we’ve always been remote, it’s truly a mindset. Committing to working remote means that you cater your communications, habits, tools, meetings, etc. to be efficient in a remote setting. Everything you get in an office is possible in a remote setting, it just takes creativity.
Givebutter working hours are 9am to 6pm in your local time zone, inclusive of a one-hour lunch break, unless your role dictates otherwise. As a fully remote company, we pride ourselves both on employee accountability as well as an appreciation of a flexible lifestyle. If something interrupts your work day, we ask that you make up the hours at another time. All employees are encouraged to keep their calendars up to date including blocking off time for anything that will take you offline during working hours (e.g. the dentist).
Ideally, all the information that an employee at Givebutter needs to do their job is documented and easily accessible so that one does not have to rely on someone else’s availability to get the information needed. Recurring meetings are continually audited to ensure that they are productive and efficient.
If you have to do it twice, write it down. If you have to ask twice, write it down. A successful remote team relies on documentation for asynchronous and fluid work.
