Givebutter utilizes a Flexible Time Off policy for all planned time away from work. Under this Flexible Time Off policy, Givebutter employees do not have a minimum or maximum number of days set aside for time off. Givebutter maintains a separate Sick or Emergent Leave policy for all unplanned time away from work.
Givebutter employees should use the two policies accordingly:
- Flexible Time Off - to be used for anything planned in advance; vacations, trips, appointments, etc.
- Sick (or Emergent) Leave - to be used for anything emergent: sick days, childcare, caretaking of loved ones, etc., that does not allow for advance notice. See Time Off for more details about Sick Leave.
All employee’s are required to request time off through the Justworks portal so that time used can be tracked. Failure to request time off could result in discipline or assumption of Job Abandonment (see below).
📜 Flexible Time Off Guidelines
- Team members are required to work with their managers to find coverage and/or delegate ownership of urgent tasks while out of the office.
- The maximum amount of time off that may be taken at any one time under this Policy may not exceed two (2) consecutive business weeks (10 scheduled days) unless approved by the Director of People Operations. Flexible Time off is not to be used for sick, parental, or family and medical leave. Time off for those purposes is provided pursuant to separate policies and procedures.
- Any time off requests in the first 30 days after the start date must be approved by the Director of People. Time off requests in the first 30 days after the start date can not exceed 3 consecutive days unless prior arrangements were made during the hiring period.
- Team members will continue to receive their regular salary while they are on approved time off under these guidelines.
- If team members do not request time off under these guidelines, they are not eligible to substitute compensation or other remuneration in lieu of time off.
- When taking time off under these guidelines, team members are expected to ensure that their assigned tasks, projects, and goals are completed competently and timely. This includes maintaining needed communication and a minimal level of availability to leaders and/or team members to support team objectives and maintain client-service standards.
- Time off does not accrue and, therefore, time off is not paid out upon separation from employment.
- Each Department may have additional guidelines to follow, check with your manager to ensure that you are in compliance prior to requesting time off.
